It is suggested to visit the Goverment of Canada website in order to learn about the requirements and immigration plans and to get the proper documents to live in Canada such as Social Insurance Number (SIN), Visa, etc.

Documents

It is recommended to have :

  • An organized folder upon arrival with key documents for immigration,
    also have digital backup and copy
  • It is recommended to bring all your official/legal documents for
    example birth and/or marriage certificates, driving license, school
    /university grades or certificates of citizenship.
  • If your documents are not in English or French, you will have to produce what is called a certified translation of all of these documents, in order to provide an English or French version of the
    documents involved.

Arriving in Sault Ste. Marie

  • It is recommended to get some services such as bank account, local cellphone number (Rogers, Fido, and Bell Canada among others) City of Sault Ste Marie Library access card.
  • Appointments are required as a part of the Canadian Culture for the majority of business meetings/ services, medical, etc.
  • Keep your Work permit/ Student permit all the time with the passport.
  • The recommendation is given to use suitable clothing for winter, spring and
    summer. Many options available through local stores for winter clothes.
