Driver's Licence

One of the first documents that may be required upon arrival to Canada and Ontario is a driver’s licence. In many of the job opportunities they may be requesting this document as part of the hiring requirements (according to the type of job proposed).

The driver’s licence is a provincial document, that is, it is issued by the government of the province and usually also serves as an identification document in various procedures.

There are 16 different types of driver’s licences in Ontario, but the most general is type G. This type of licence certifies the ability to drive cars, vans and small trucks.

Obtaining this licence consists of 3 steps:

G1: Novice driver’s licence.

G2: Driver’s licence for drivers with average experience.

Full G: Driver’s licence for experienced drivers.
